WE-SPRAY CROWN TOWERS, PERTH

Western Australia’s tourism ranks high in the state’s table of economic assets. And the fastest- growing segment of our tourist industry is luxury travel – expected to expand by 6.2%, compared to about 4% for the industry as a whole. It’s hardly surprising, then, that WA premier Colin Barnett was enthusiastic when he opened Crown Towers Perth, a $645m hotel and resort complex aimed squarely at the up-market traveller, and the site of one of Wespray On’s most impressive contracts.

“With the development of the new Perth Stadium nearby, the opening of Elizabeth Quay and the recent announcement of direct flights from Europe to Western Australia, the state is now well placed to increase the value of tourism,” said Barnett, as he opened the hotel, Perth’s largest.

And it’s no surprise that when Wespray On was asked to bid for the contract to provide the paving surface for the hotel’s entire undercover valet drive- through, we jumped at it. The contract called for the application of a custom- designed stencil effect throughout the entire undercover valet drive through. This stencil was created exclusively for the Crown Towers project, and we applied it in a two tone limestone finish to the walkways, matching the travertine tiles throughout the complex. The driveway repeats the interlocking pattern, but in a shale grey colour, highlighted with a charcoal edge. A pedestrian crossing is incorporated into the surface. The entire surface is protected with a highly durable polyurethane sealer.

The Wespray On system is particularly well suited to this kind of area; where vehicular and pedestrian traffic mingle. Together with its unsurpassed slip resistance, its ability to embed graphics that remind drivers there are pedestrians around – and vice versa – make it the perfect choice.
